Migrant Support Services
ADAPT supports all women regardless of their status in the country.
Looking for help around domestic abuse and coercive control can be complex for women who are not Irish. Language barriers and reduced social and family supports as well as visa issues often make it more challenging.
The migrant support worker in ADAPT supports migrant women and female International Protection Applicants around their experience of domestic abuse/coercive control. The worker meets women on a one-to-one basis and offers them emotional and practical support. This includes:
- Helping with Housing
- Social Welfare
- Legal Protection
ADAPT also delivers awareness raising events for groups of migrant women. These sessions give information to women on domestic abuse and coercive control.
The migrant support worker also helps women to connect with other specialized agencies.
